Would you want it to endure the sun’s rays, rains or snow? Here are some of the fabric materials that we recommend:

  • High-density polyethylene (HDPE) – This tarpaulin product is recommended if you want maximum protection from the sun. It blocks 94-97% of the harmful UV rays. It is relatively lightweight, waterproof, and it comes in different colors to suit your particular needs. One must also consider that HDPE fabrics are breathable, making them resistant to sudden gusts of wind, while still providing maximum protection from the elements. It is also mildew- and mold-resistant, which makes it perfect for your shade sail project.

It is weather-resistant, water-proof, and highly flexible – making it a perfect material for the sun shade structure you have in mind. It also has a long lifespan when used properly – anywhere from 5 to 15 years depending on the frequency of the maintenance and weather conditions.

  • Nylon fabric – Another versatile fabric product, this is also weather-resistant and can also resist staining, mildew and mold. It is versatile and flexible and can come in various colors to suit your particular needs. It also boasts of a high UV blocking factor.

  • Cotton fabric – Cotton fabric is also a feasible sun shade material, especially if your location isn’t visited by too many weather disturbances. Cotton is extremely lightweight, and it also offers some amount of protection from the sun. Tightly woven cotton fabric can be weather-proof, but it may be more susceptible to staining, molds and mildew.
